Johnny Yip, born 葉振棠 on February 7, 1945 in Macau, was a Hong Kong singer known
for his contributions to television drama soundtracks. After moving to Hong Kong
at age 18, Ye initially worked as a part-time night bassist. In the mid-1970s,
he formed "The New Topnotes" band and released albums through EMI Records. His
breakthrough came in 1980 when he was hired by Rediffusion Television's music
director Michael Lai Siu-tin to sing TV drama theme songs, including "Gone With
