Юрий Шевчук
Yuri Yulianovich Shevchuk, born May 16, 1957 in Yagodnoye, Magadan Oblast,
Russian SFSR, Soviet Union, is a Russian rock singer-songwriter who founded the
band DDT in 1980 with Vladimir Sigachyov. He grew up in Ufa, Bashkir ASSR, and
worked as an art teacher before co-founding the group. The band released the
album Periferiya (1984), followed by Aktrisa Vesna (1992). The group toured
internationally, performing in Hungary in 1989, and in the United States and
Japan in 1990. Shevchuk’s solo releases include the album L'Echoppe (2008). In
September 2008, he organized peace concerts...
