Юрий Гуляев
Yuri Gulyayev, born Yuri Aleksandrovich Gulyayev in Tyumen, Ural Oblast, Russian
SFSR, Soviet Union, on August 9, 1930, was a Soviet opera singer and lyric
baritone who lived until 1986. He studied at the Ural State Conservatory in
Sverdlovsk and began his stage career with the Sverdlovsk Opera and Ballet
Theatre. In 1955, he became a soloist at the State Russian Opera and Ballet
Theatre in Stalino, later performing regularly at Moscow's Bolshoi Theatre in
opera roles including Germont in La traviata, Onegin in Eugene Onegin, Valentin
in Faust, and Figaro in The Barber of Seville...
