Лев Ошанин
Lev Ivanovich Oshanin, born May 30, 1912, in Rybinsk, Russian Empire, was a
Soviet poet and songwriter. He studied at the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute
and joined the Red Army's political division during World War II as a writer for
military newspapers. Oshanin wrote lyrics for popular Soviet songs including
"Ekh, dorogi..." (1945), "Hymn of Democratic World Youth" (1947), "Song of
Unrestful Youth" (1958), "Solnechny krug" (1962), and "Volga Flows" (1962). He
won the Stalin Prize in 1950 for his poem and song cycle for the film Youth of
