Yevgeny Grigorievich Martynov was born on May 22, 1948, in Kamyshin, Volgograd
Oblast, Russian Federation. He graduated from the Donetsk Music and Pedagogical
Institute in 1971. In 1972, while working as a composer in Moscow, Martynov
composed "Birch" to Sergey Yesenin's lyrics for Maya Kristalinskaya and had his
song "My Love" performed by Gyulli Chokheli. He worked at various publishing
houses and played a romance singer role in Oleg Biyma’s musical Just a Fairy
