Zülfiyyə Xanbabayeva
Zülfiyyə Güloğlan qızı Xanbabayeva, born October 16, 1967, in Baku, Azerbaijan
SSR, Soviet Union, is an Azerbaijani pop singer. Her early exposure to music
came from family concerts and the Afsar Javanshirov chorus during school; at age
12 she performed Fuzûlî’s poem "Şəbi-Hicran" in Uzeyir Hajibeyov’s home-museum,
gaining local press attention. She studied theater directing and joined the
group Aypara in 1994 before launching a solo career. Her debut album, Gecə,
released in 2000, became the best-selling album of the year in Azerbaijan,
