Zhang Ye is a Chinese soprano born on 28 May 1968 in Fujian, China. Zhang
entered the Hunan Provincial Art School at age 14 to study traditional Chinese
opera. Zhang graduated from the China Conservatory of Music in 1991, where Jin
Tielin provided instruction. After completing a master's degree in vocal music
in 1995, Zhang joined the faculty of the conservatory's vocal music department.
Zhang specialized in the music of ethnic minorities and performed as a soloist
in operas such as Tang Bohu yu Shen Jiuniang and Honghu chiweidui. The song
