Yuko Nakazawa (born June 19, 1973) is a Japanese singer and television personality, best known as the founding leader of Morning Musume and the Hello! Project. Originally from Fukuchiyama, Kyoto, she first gained attention as a finalist in the 1997 ASAYAN audition. Though not selected as the winner, she went on to form Morning Musume alongside four other finalists. The group’s debut single, “Ai no Tane” sold out quickly, securing their official debut with the 1998 release of "Morning Coffee", with Nakazawa as leader.
