The roots of funk group Young & Company reach all the way back to 1970 when the
Young family moved from West Virginia to East Orange, New Jersey. Brothers
Billy, Mike, and Kenneth Young recruited former Aurra member Buddy ‘Hank’
Hankerson and drummer Dave Reyes and formed the Young Movement. In 1974, they
changed their name to Flashflood and worked with established bands like Slave
and Aurra. The group brought in vocalist Jackie Thomas and changed their name to
