Carl Wilhelm Eugen Stenhammar, born on February 7, 1871, in Stockholm, Sweden,
was a prominent Swedish composer, pianist, and conductor. He studied piano,
organ, and composition in Stockholm from 1887 to 1892 and debuted as a pianist
in the spring of 1892. Stenhammar made his first public appearance as a
conductor in October 1897 and served as Kapellmeister at the Royal Opera in
Stockholm from 1900 to 1901. He later became the chief conductor of the
