Whiskeytown was an American alternative country band formed in 1994 in Raleigh,
North Carolina. Fronted by Ryan Adams, the group initially included Caitlin
Cary, Phil Wandscher, Eric "Skillet" Gilmore, and Steve Grothmann. The band's
debut album Faithless Street (released on Mood Food Records) established them as
leaders in the genre and led to a major-label deal with Geffen Records' Outpost
