Uno Naissoo
Uno Naissoo, born on March 25, 1928 in Viljandi, Estonia, was an Estonian
composer and jazz musician. During his studies, he played bass in the sextet
Rütmikud and founded the Swing Club ensemble in 1949 in Tallinn, which hosted
lectures on bebop and progressive jazz. From 1952 until his death he taught
music theory in Tallinn and led the youth section of the Estonian SSR Composers'
Union. His career highlights include the 1978 album Mälestusi Kodust and the
jazz arrangements of Estonian folk songs that were broadcast on radio. Naissoo
died in Tallinn on January 5, 1980,
