UK Subs
The U.K. Subs were formed in London in 1976, emerging from the pub‑rock scene as
the Marauders before adopting the name The Subversives and eventually The U.K.
Subs after witnessing punk performances at The Roxy. The core of the band was
vocalist Charlie Harper, formerly an R&B singer, alongside guitarist
Nicky Garratt, bassist Paul Slack, and drummer Rory Lyons; by the time the first
single was recorded, drummer Pete Davies had joined. The group’s early
output-singles such as "CID" and the live tracks "I Live in a Car" and
