Pablo Rodríguez Lozada, known professionally as Tito Rodriguez, was born on
January 4, 1923, in Santurce, Puerto Rico. He formed his first ensemble, Sexteto
Nacional, at a young age and recorded his first song, "Amor perdido", with the
Conjunto Típico Ladí in 1939. Moving to New York City that same year, he
performed with his brother Johnny Rodriguez's orchestra and later joined
Cuarteto Caney. After serving in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946, Rodríguez
