Tito Guizar
Tito Guízar, born Federico Arturo Guízar Tolentino in Guadalajara, Jalisco,
Mexico, on 8 April 1908, was a Mexican singer and actor. Guízar trained as an
opera singer and traveled to New York City in 1929 to record songs by Agustín
Lara and perform at Carnegie Hall. He achieved international stardom with his
performance in the 1936 musical film Allá en el Rancho Grande, which popularized
the singing charro persona and brought Mexican cinema to global audiences. He
recorded popular arrangements of Mexican and Spanish songs, including “Cielito
