Tiamat

Heavy metal music
Tiamat started out in extreme metal in 1987. Initially called Treblinka, the Swedish band was inspired by Sumerian mythology. After three first albums in which they sought their own style, Tiamat made a landmark progressive metal album with Wildhoney in 1994. Tiamat followed this up with A Deeper Kind of Slumber in 1997, before experiencing a hiatus marked by Skeleton Skeletron (1999), Judas Christ (2002) and Prey (2004). Without recapturing the brilliance of Wildhoney, Tiamat returned to form with Amanethes (2008) and The Scarred People (2012).
