British rock band Thunderclap Newman, formed in 1969, was created by Pete
Townshend of The Who and Kit Lambert to showcase the talents of John "Speedy"
Keen, Jimmy McCulloch, and Andy "Thunderclap" Newman. The band's breakthrough
came with their debut single "Something in the Air", which reached Number 1 on
the UK Singles Chart for three weeks in 1969. This song, written by Keen, was
produced by Townshend under the pseudonym Bijou Drains and featured
contributions from Newman on piano and McCulloch on guitar. The band's
