Born Stephen Bruner in Los Angeles on October 19, 1984, Thundercat is a jazz and funk bassist and singer, as well as producer for Flying Lotus and Suicidal Tendencies. Under his pseudonym, he has released two albums rich in genre fusion, The Golden Age of Apocalypse (2011) and Apocalypse (2013). His appearance on the track "These Walls", taken from Kendrick Lamar's seminal To Pimp a Butterfly (2015), earned him a Grammy Award.
