The Soil
The Soil is a South African a cappella group originating from Soweto, founded in
2003 by siblings Ntsika Ngxanga and Luphindo Ngxanga, with the later addition of
Theo Matshoba. The group developed a style known as "Kasi Soul", blending jazz,
hip-hop, afro-pop, afro-soul, and gospel. Their eponymous debut album, The Soil
(2011), achieved platinum status in South Africa. Subsequent releases include
Reflections (Live in Joburg) (2013), Nostalgic Moments (2014), Echoes of Kofifi
(2016), and Reimagined (2024). They also released the single "Thandwa Ndim"
