Alexander James Harvey was born on 5 February 1935 in Glasgow, Scotland. He
began his music career performing in skiffle groups in 1954 and later led Alex
Harvey's Big Soul Band from 1958 to 1965, focusing on blues and rock'n'roll. In
1972, he formed the Sensational Alex Harvey Band (SAHB) with guitarist Zal
Cleminson, bassist Chris Glen, and cousins Hugh McKenna (keyboards) and Ted
McKenna (drums). The band released their debut album Framed in 1972, and turned
