The Penelopes is a French electronic music duo formed in Paris by Axel Basquiat and Vincent Trémel. The ensemble released the EP Steal This in 2005 through Lucy Lee Quality Recordings. Its debut studio recording, The Arrogance of Simplicity, appeared in 2006. The group's recording “Demian” was used in a Perrier advertising campaign. In 2007, the duo received the Qwartz Electronic Music Award for “Best Discovery”. The ensemble relocated to London in 2012 and established the label Pour Le Monde Records.
