The Parlotones, formed in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1998 by vocalist and
rhythm guitarist Kahn Morbee, guitarist Paul Hodgson, bassist Glen Hodgson, and
drummer Neil Pauw, emerged from a high‑school collaboration that evolved into a
Britpop‑influenced indie rock sound. Their breakthrough came with the single
"Beautiful" (2004) and the EP Borderline Patrol (2004), which secured airplay on
