The Modern, an English electronic music group formed in 2001, originated from
London and featured vocalist Emma Cooke, guitarist Nathan Cooper, and
synthesizer player Chi Tudor‑Hart. After initial rehearsals and local club
performances, the band released their debut EP Eastern Bloc on 11 April 2005,
followed by the single "Industry" the same day, which entered the UK Singles
Chart at number 4. In 2005 the group signed with Mercury Records and produced
