The La Planta
Formed in Melo, Cerro Largo, in 2014, The La Planta is a Uruguayan cumbia
project led by singer and songwriter Nicolás Choca, who shaped the act from its
early band format into a studio-driven outfit that revolves around his vocals,
writing and direction; in recent years the core creative team has frequently
included Uruguayan producer Pushi (Santiago Rodríguez). Early releases built a
regional following, and by 2021 the project was surfacing on the Latin
blogosphere with the single “Una Vela.” A run of singles consolidated the
