The dB's are an American alternative rock and power pop group formed in New York
City in 1978. The band consisted of Peter Holsapple, Chris Stamey, Will Rigby,
and Gene Holder. In 1978, Stamey released a single credited to Chris Stamey and
the dB's, which featured “(I Thought) You Wanted to Know” backed with “If and
When”. Holsapple joined the group in October 1978 after moving from North
Carolina. Their debut studio album, Stands for Decibels, was released in January
