Teddy Bunn
Theodore Leroy “Teddy” Bunn (May 7, 1910 – July 20, 1978) was an American jazz,
blues, and swing guitarist, singer, and composer from Freeport, New York. Bunn
was a self-taught musician who played by ear and utilized his thumb rather than
a pick. He launched his recording career in 1929 with Red Allen and Fats Pichon
before appearing as a guest with the Duke Ellington Orchestra. Bunn performed
with the Washboard Rhythm Kings and joined the Spirits of Rhythm in 1932. During
the 1930s, Bunn recorded with Spencer Williams, Victoria Spivey, and Jelly Roll
