Tadeusz Baird (1928–1981) was a Polish composer and teacher, born in Grodzisk
Mazowiecki, who studied composition with Bolesław Woytowicz, Kazimierz Sikorski,
Piotr Rytel and Piotr Perkowski at the Warsaw State Higher School of Music, as
well as piano and musicology. In 1949 he founded Group 49 with Kazimierz Serocki
and Jan Krenz, and in 1956 he and Serocki were among the founders of the Warsaw
Autumn International Festival of Contemporary Music. His early music was
