Surjit Bindrakhia, born Surjit Bains on April 15, 1962, in Bindrakh village of
Rupnagar district, Punjab, India, was a singer. He began his singing career by
performing boliyan for his college bhangra team and received formal training
from Atul Sharma. His breakthrough came with the album Addi Utte Ghum in 1990,
which included the track "Jugni" featuring his signature hekh technique.
Bindrakhia's distinctive voice and high-pitched hekh made him a prominent figure
