Steve Reich is one of the leaders of the minimalist repetitive music movement.
His early works are based on the principle of displacement, directly linked to
work on magnetic tape and then applied to instruments. The recording becomes the
musical material, where sounds are worked in loops. He also explores the
repetition of melodic and rhythmic motifs. His research has also led him to take
an interest in traditional music (Ghanaian, Balinese and Hebrew) and to adopt
