Spirits of Rhythm was an American instrumental and vocal jazz group, active
during the 1930s and 1940s. The band's members had previously played in various
jazz formations such as Sepia Nevhews, Ben Bernie's Nephews, and The Five
Cousins. They adopted the name Spirits of Rhythm after guitarist Teddy Bunn
joined them. The group primarily performed at jazz clubs on New York's 52nd
Street and in Hollywood during the 1930s and early 1940s, with occasional
recordings. Their notable songs include "I Got Rhythm" and "I'll Be Ready". Key
