Spiral Starecase, an American pop band from Sacramento, California, formed in
1964 under the name The Fydallions. Initially a four-piece instrumental group,
they began performing at local venues and talent contests. In 1968, after
signing with Columbia Records and changing their name to Spiral Starecase, they
released two regional hit singles produced by Gary Usher. Their breakthrough
came in 1969 with the release of "More Today Than Yesterday", which peaked at
number 12 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number 7 on the Cash Box Top 100.
