Sonora 5 Estrellas
In recent years there has been a surge of interest throughout Latin America in
traditional music played with a modern twist. Known as 'New Cumbia' or, in the
case of the band Sonora 5 Estrellas, 'New Chilean Cumbia', the music encompasses
many musical influences and draws upon a wide range of traditional styles
including ska, reggae, salsa and other genres.
The Sonora 5 Estrellas are in the vanguard of the Cumbia movement within their
