Son Miserables was a prominent rock group from Panama formed in 1991. The band
gained initial recognition by winning third place and four out of six categories
at the Maxell Video Contest in 1992 with their video for "No te miento". Their
debut album, Son Miserables, released on November 1, 1996, became the
top-selling rock and pop album in Panama in 1997. The band collaborated with
Rubén Blades, who included three of their songs in his Grammy-winning album La
Rosa de los Vientos. Their second album, El Disco Negro, released in May 1999,
