Simon Halsey

Simon Halsey, born on March 8, 1958, in London, England, is an English choral conductor. He sang in the choirs of New College, Oxford, and King's College, Cambridge, before studying conducting at the Royal College of Music in London. In 1983, he became the chorus director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus. He founded the City of Birmingham Touring Opera with Graham Vick in 1987 and the City of Birmingham Youth Chorus in 1995. He won three Grammy Awards for Best Choral Performance in 2008, 2009, and 2011, and was awarded the Bundesverdienstkreuz in 2010.
