Turkish singer Seda Sayan was born Aysel Gürsaçer on December 30, 1962, in
Istanbul. She began her career at age 15, performing in wedding halls and small
casinos after leaving home due to family issues. Her first album, Yandı Pilav
Tavası, was released under the name Aysel Gül in 1979. In 1984, she starred in
the film İmparator alongside Kadir İnanır. Seda Sayan's breakthrough came with
her self-titled album Seda Sayan'la Başbaşa, released in 1987, which marked a
shift from traditional Turkish folk music to club and arabesque styles.
