Sean Ryan
Seán Ryan was born in 1919 in Nenagh, County Tipperary, Ireland, and was an
Irish master fiddler and whistler. He won the Oireachtas in 1954 and the Senior
All-Ireland Fiddle Championship in 1955 and 1956. In 1956, he also won the
All-Ireland Duet Championship with P. J. Moloney. He composed many of his own
tunes in Cloneyhurke and later in Rosenallis, where he settled with his second
wife, Kathleen. His recordings include Traditional Music of Ireland (1960) and
Back Home to the Cliffs of Moher (1972).
