Akemi Shinoyama, known professionally as Saori Minami, is a Japanese J-pop
singer-songwriter born on July 2, 1954, in Okinawa, Japan. Minami made her debut
in the summer of 1971 with the single "17-sai" (17 Years Old), which achieved
significant success, reaching the number 2 position on the Oricon charts and
becoming the 11th best-selling single of 1971, catapulting her to stardom.
Following the success of the single, Minami was nominated for the Best Newcomer
