Sadettin Kaynak
Sadettin Kaynak was a Turkish classical music composer and hafiz who lived from
1895 to 1961. Born in Istanbul, he became a hafiz as a young boy and lost his
father early in his youth. He completed his music education at Istanbul
University and later traveled to southeast Anatolia to research Turkish folk
music. Supported by the new republic, Kaynak supported the reforms introduced by
Atatürk and was among the first to recite the Ezan in Turkish. He introduced
