Born on November 24, 1972, Rumon Gamba is a British conductor known for his
series of interpretations of film music and his collaborations with BBC
orchestras. He studied music at Durham University before joining London's
prestigious Royal Academy of Music, where his teachers included Colin Metters,
George Hurst and conductor Sir Colin Davis. Winner of the BBC Young Musicias
Conductors Workshop competition in 1998, he joined the BBC Philharmonic that
year as assistant conductor, then associate conductor, before leaving in 2002.
