Julio Edgardo Barrera Larriega, known professionally as Rulli Rendo, was born on
September 6, 1946, in Chiclayo, Peru. He began his musical journey studying
piano and later enrolled at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música de Lima. In
1964, Rendi's career took off when he was signed by El Virrey Records under the
artistic name Rulli Rendo. Throughout the 1970s, Rendo released several albums
known as Toques, which became popular during Peru's toques de queda (curfews).
In 1980, he moved to Mexico, where he directed his orchestra and performed on
prominent shows.
