Roger "Ram" Ramirez
Roger Amares, also known as Roger “Ram” Ramirez, was born on September 15, 1913,
in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and was an American jazz pianist and composer of swing
music. He immigrated to the United States in 1920 and began his career
performing with groups including the Louisiana Stompers and Spirits of Rhythm.
Over the following decades, he worked with musicians such as Rex Stewart, Willie
Bryant, Ella Fitzgerald, Ike Quebec, John Kirby, and Helen Humes, and toured
