Roberto Miranda
Roberto Miguel Miranda was born around 1950 in New York City and is an American
jazz musician, double bass player, and composer. Raised in a musical family, he
switched from congas to bass when his family moved to Los Angeles in 1952. He
studied with Ray Brown and Red Mitchell and entered the California scene in the
early 1970s, recording his first session in 1972 with Charles Lloyd on Waves. In
1976, he composed for the Compton Symphony Orchestra. He released the Raphael
big‑band album in 1980 on Nimbus, and led the Roberto Miranda Ensemble, issuing
