Robert Knight, born Robert Henry Peebles on 21 April 1940 in Franklin, Tennessee, was an American soul and pop singer. He began his musical career as a member of the Paramounts, a quintet of school friends, and made his professional vocal debut with them. In 1960, they inked a deal with Dot Records and released "Free Me" in 1961, which became a US R&B hit single. After subsequent releases failed to make any commercial waves, the group parted ways.
