Ricky Ford
Ricky Ford is an American jazz tenor saxophonist born on March 4, 1954, in
Boston, Massachusetts. He trained at the New England Conservatory before
recording with Gunther Schuller in 1974 and performing in the Duke Ellington
Orchestra under Mercer Ellington from 1974 to 1976. He subsequently joined
Charles Mingus from 1976 to 1977 and released his debut record as a leader,
Loxodonta Africana (1977). He played in Dannie Richmond's band from 1978 to 1981
and Lionel Hampton's orchestra from 1980 to 1982. His solo recordings feature
