Renato Borghetti
Renato Borghetti, born on July 23, 1963, in Porto Alegre, Brazil, is a Brazilian
folk musician and accordionist known for his contributions to traditional gaúcho
music, samba, and world music. He began playing the diatonic accordion, or
"gaita ponto," at ten, debuting professionally at sixteen in traditional centers
and folk festivals. Borghetti's breakthrough came with his debut album Gaita
Ponto (1984), which sold over one hundred thousand copies within three weeks,
