Belgian countertenor, tenor and conductor Reinoud Van Mechelen was born in
Leuven on May 29, 1987. He began singing as a child in a choir, then took
lessons with Anne Mertens and Nicolas Achten before joining the Royal
Conservatory of Brussels in 2007, where his teachers included Lena Lootens and
Dina Grossberger, in addition to master classes with Jean-Paul Fauchécourt,
Howard Cook and Claire Lefilliâtre, among others. Destined for a career in
