Pierce Pettis, born on April 14, 1954, in Fort Payne, Alabama, is an American singer-songwriter. His career began in 1979 when Joan Baez covered his song "Song at the End of the Movie" on her album Honest Lullaby. Pettis released his first solo album, Moments, in 1984. He signed with High Street Records in 1989, releasing three albums, including While the Serpent Lies Sleeping (1989), Tinseltown (1991), produced by Mark Heard, and Chase the Buffalo (1993).
