Philipp Johann Thimm
Philipp Johann Thimm, born 1987 in Germany, is a Berlin‑based
multi‑instrumentalist, composer, and cellist. He trained with Hans‑Peter Schulz
and studied cello at the Leopold Mozart Conservatory before learning electric
guitar at the Pop Academy. In 2009, he co‑founded the Berlin alternative band
Abby. From 2010 he worked with Ellen Allien and Moderat, and from 2011 partnered
with Apparat, co‑creating the 2019 album LP5, which earned a 2019 VUT‑Indie
