Phil Hey, born May 21, 1953, in New York City, is an American jazz drummer. He
grew up in Philadelphia and Roseville, Minnesota, beginning his music study with
Ed Blackwell at the Creative Music Studio in New York in 1975. His first album,
Let Them All Come, was released in 1977 with Pat Moriarty on Min Records. Phil
Hey has collaborated extensively with notable jazz artists, including Dewey
Redman, Jay McShann, and Benny Carter. In 2005, his quartet's live album
