Pepe Guizar
José Guízar Morfín, known as Pepe Guizar, was born on February 12, 1912, in
Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He was a singer and composer of popular Mexican
music. Guizar moved to Mexico City in 1928, where he studied music, declamation,
and poetry. His career began at the radio station XEW, earning him the nickname
"El pintor musical de México" ("The musical painter of Mexico") for his
compositions depicting various landscapes of his homeland. Guizar composed
